Carola’s approach to yoga is spiritual, focused on how to make the pose work for the individual rather than trying to force them into the pose. Props are encouraged and used often, intensifying the stretch and flexibility. Connection and awareness of self to the breath, to sensations, and to emotions is an empowering way to promote healing from within.
Under the guidance of Dr. Lorin Roche and Camille Maureen who collectively have 100 years of experience meditating, Carola learned invaluable skills to help others enter meditation through their own unique way which is The Instinctive Meditation approach ™. It is about giving yourself a chance to recharge, release tension, and attune inward so that your nervous system can properly function. Over time, you will be able to find clarity throughout your day and respond instead of reacting to others and self from a place of connection.
Conscious breath is incorporated throughout the practice to create a variety of energetic qualities. We use techniques such as alternate nostril breathing, sitali, breath of fire, right nostril breathing, left nostril breathing, box breath, etc.
My vision is to hold space and support for our community of parents during their parenting journey through conversations that quite frankly are not really happening on a scale that is beneficial to us and our kids. We were meant to raise children as a village and not alone which is a lot to rest on sole individuals and due to the recent boom in technology, it is even more demanding to parent. Parenting starts with us. It is us doing the work to self-regulate, feel and accept what is going on internally so that we can be the calm for our kids and help co-regulate with them as they experience their emotions. If we are operating on an empty cup or from a cup filled with resentment/anger/overwhelm, that is what is spilled over onto them. However, if our cup is filled with calm, intention, balance, compassion then this is what they receive from us. This is no easy task especially if we were raised very differently. No blame on our parents as they did the best they could given how they were raised but if we want to break the old generational patterns and give the gift of emotional intelligence, resiliency, grit, intrinsic motivation, mind/body/heart connection to our kids, then we have to begin that work starting with us. We move from authoritarian and control-fear based parenting to being in relationship with our kids and gently guiding them side by side.
